Electric Motors & Softstarts

When it comes to efficiency and reliability, electric motors play key in industrial applications. At MBD Automation, we offer a wide range of induction motors known for their simple rugged design, efficient operation and low maintenance requirements.

International Efficiency or IE standards have been introduced by the International Electrotechnical Commission to promote the development of highly efficient motors.

IE1 - Standard efficiency
IE2 - High efficiency
IE3 - Premium efficiency
IE4 - Super Premium efficiency
IE5 - Ultra Premium efficiency

A softstarter is an electrical device connected between the main power and the motor. Soft starters increase a motor's lifetime by protecting it from electrical stresses. With many built-in motor protection features, your motor is safe in your hands. Starting currents can be easily optimised for your load, application, and motor size. The system includes over ten motor protection features to safeguard your motor against various loads and network irregularities

At MBD Automation, we analyse your requirements to select the best softstarter solution and the most suitable motor efficiency and capacity for reliable, efficient and cost-effective operations.

FAQ

What are the different IE efficiency classes for motors?

International Efficiency or IE standards denote a motor efficiency level. Higher IE classes indicate higher efficiency – IE2 is high efficiency, IE3 is premium efficiency, IE4 is super-premium efficiency above 96%, and IE5 is reserved for future ultra-high efficiency levels.

Motors with higher IE classes are designed and built to consistently operate at higher efficiency levels, leading to significant long-term energy and cost savings, making the extra investment worthwhile. They also have better performance.

Our team of experts will understand your operational requirements, load patterns and other parameters to recommend the ideal motor efficiency class, output power, size and features to deliver reliable and efficient performance with maximum cost savings.

A soft starter is a solid-state device that protects AC electric motors from damage caused by sudden power surges during startup. It limits the large initial inrush of current that occurs when the motor starts, allowing for a gradual ramp-up to full speed. Soft starters are used primarily during the startup process and may also be used for providing ramp-down stops
